I’m a lawyer in Belgium. Continental lawyers are constantly working with copies. Copies from mails, from court files, just name it, we need copies in order to do our job.
Recently the government decided to spend less money on the Department of Justice. Good thinking, because the government is necessarily cutting costs.
The staff of the Department of Justice is reduced. Unpleasant consequence of that: when lawyers need a copy from a court file, it can take many weeks before the staff finds the time to make those copies. We cannot wait so long.
So what do I do when the waiting time gets too long? I go to court, get myself the original court file and start using CamScanner on my cellphone.
In minutes I scan the whole file, it can be many papers, but who cares, it’s just a click away, and I don’t even bother to check if all the papers are well copied by CamScanner. It’s never a problem.
I return the court file to the staff and head back to my office. There I do the final checkup and print everything out. VOILA. I’m still waiting for the official copies, but at least I can work on the CamScanner-copies of the court files. I’m happy. My client is happy.
Thank you, CamScanner!
